Dusty McKinnon

Co-Founder · Chief Executive Officer

Dusty McKinnon is a 25-year energy-industry executive, founder and repeat entrepreneur who builds commercial businesses around hard technology. At TerraVolt, he leads the drive to take the world's first commercially scalable electrokinetic soil remediation platform to market — starting with Western Canada's $37.9B wellsite cleanup liability.

Dusty's career spans the energy and environmental sectors as a creator, consultant and company builder. He has served as both interim and fractional CTO for private and public companies, and has built cleantech companies as Founder & CEO — experience on both sides of the table: raising capital as a founder and deploying technology as an executive.

He co-founded TerraVolt with a conviction that remediation should restore land, not relocate contamination — and that the industry's dig-truck-dump default persists only because nothing better could operate at commercial scale. Partnering with inventor Edward Hanna, Dusty built the company around the TerraVolt Technology: assembling the leadership team, securing $2M+ in non-dilutive funding (Emissions Reduction Alberta, NRC-IRAP, Mitacs), forging the University of Calgary research partnership, and structuring the capital-light rental-and-royalty business model at the core of the company's economics.

Leadership at TerraVolt

Vision
A world where soil health is restored — TerraVolt as the industry leader in innovative, on-site soil remediation.
Execution
Led the company from technology theory through POC — founder funded and matched with non-dilutive equity. Now seeking SAFE funding for commercial-scale build, driving first commercial deployments across Western Canada's oil & gas and brownfield markets.
The raise
Leading the $3,000,000 SAFE to build the V6/V12/32V rental fleet and convert a validated technology into recurring rental-plus-royalty revenue.

John S. Mah, CPA, CA

Chief Financial Officer

John S. Mah, CPA, CA

Chief Financial Officer (Fractional)

John Mah is a CPA, CA and senior executive with 25+ years spanning energy, private-equity-backed ventures, capital raising, M&A and corporate governance. He has advised and led organizations through transactions exceeding $575 million in aggregate enterprise value — and brings that deal discipline to TerraVolt's seed round and the road beyond it.

John pairs operating leadership with transaction execution: debt and equity financings across private and public companies, 100+ acquisition and joint-venture opportunities evaluated as a CEO and founder, and governance, reporting and control frameworks designed for growth-stage and publicly listed companies.

His career runs the full arc of energy finance: audit and internal-control advisory at Ernst & Young; SOX and governance leadership at Harvest Energy Trust; public-company reporting at Paramount Resources; then a decade of finance leadership — VP Finance & CFO of Monterey Exploration (growth, public listing and ~$375M sale) and founding CFO of Carmel Bay Exploration (~$200M sale); founder and CEO of Modest Energy; CFO of Fireweed Energy and Triple J Pipelines. Today he is CEO of Noah's Ark Investments Inc. and provides fractional CEO/CFO leadership through 1MG Advisory Services.

What John brings to TerraVolt

The raise
Investor-grade financial statements, data room discipline and SAFE/cap table integrity for the $3.0M seed round — the diligence standard institutional money expects.
Controls
Governance, reporting and internal-control frameworks scaled for a company moving from grant-funded R&D to commercial revenue.
The exit path
A deal sheet of energy-sector exits and financings — experience pointed directly at TerraVolt's subsequent raises and eventual liquidity event.

Edward Hanna

The Inventor

Edward Hanna

Co-Founder · Chief Technology Officer

Ed Hanna has spent five decades inventing practical environmental technology — systems that were built, worked, and are still working today. The TerraVolt Technology is the culmination of that career: the machine that finally takes electrokinetic remediation from promising science to commercial reality.

An environmental scientist and engineer, Ed began his career in 1974, when “environment” was barely a word in civil engineering. He became one of the field's early pioneers — integrating soil contamination and environmental capability into development engineering, helping build what became the Canadian Land Reclamation Association, and devising stormwater techniques still in standard use.

His hallmark is elegant systems that outlive their era. For the Town of Cobalt, Ontario, he designed a constructed-wetland sewage treatment system at a fraction of conventional cost — still operating after 30+ years and adopted by other small communities. At the abandoned Kam Kotia mine — then the largest single source of heavy metals and acid drainage entering the Canadian environment since WWII — his wetland containment design remains in service today. In the 1990s he founded Environmental Audit Inc., whose groundbreaking work helped establish the Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments now standard in North American real estate transactions.

The road to TerraVolt

2010
Turns to electrokinetics for dewatering and decontaminating mine tailings, targeting Alberta oil sands — earning a series of patents for an innovative electrokinetic dewatering system considered by mining companies across North America, South America, Europe and Australia.
2017
Sets out to solve the problem that defeated 500+ patented electrokinetic remediation attempts worldwide: reliable decontamination at commercial scale. In-situ EKR worked at the bench but failed in the field — costly, slow, inconsistent. Ed designed around every one of those failure modes.
Today
The result is the TerraVolt Technology: a continuous, mobile, ex situ electrokinetic platform — patent pending in Canada and the USA. International patent examination identified no overlapping prior art in a field crowded with hundreds of EKR patents. Patent is under final review in the USA and Canada.

Practice & academia. Ed has kept one foot in practice and one in academia throughout, with university affiliations and professional-organization leadership. He is Principal of DSS Management Consultants Inc. (Toronto) and leads TerraVolt's technology program, supported by the University of Calgary, Mitacs and NRC-IRAP.

Hish Metwally

Chief Operating Officer

Hish Metwally

Chief Operating Officer

Hish Metwally brings 25+ years of Western Canadian oil & gas operations to TerraVolt — more than 1,000 wells managed across their full life cycle, from production optimization to abandonment and reclamation. He is the operator who puts TerraVolt units on real wellsites.

A production engineer by training, Hish built his career optimizing wells and facilities across the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin: development of the Montney resource play at Advantage Energy; Senior Production Engineer & Consultant at Enerplus, responsible for 200+ vertical and horizontal wells; and Senior Production Engineer at Pengrowth Energy. His operational range covers well evaluation and optimization, workovers, artificial lift and pump design, gathering systems, compression and oil & gas batteries.

As an entrepreneur, Hish is President & CEO of Pipe Fiction Oilfield Supply Inc. and CEO of WACCO Energy Services Inc., an Alberta company specializing in long-term closure liability — well abandonments and site remediation for producing oil companies. That closure business is exactly the market TerraVolt serves: WACCO works the dig-truck-dump problem every day, which is why Hish joined to replace it.

What Hish brings to TerraVolt

Sites
Direct access to wellsites undergoing reclamation — the field-trial ground the technology needs for commercial demonstration.
Operations
Deployment, logistics and field execution for the V6/V12/32V rental fleet — mobilization, site setup, crews and uptime.
Customers
A working network of producers and closure-liability holders across Alberta, Saskatchewan and BC — TerraVolt's first commercial pipeline.

Related-party disclosure. Prior to joining TerraVolt as COO, Mr. Metwally, as CEO of WACCO Energy Services Inc., provided a letter of support committing $125,000 in cash and in-kind services (including test wellsites) to the proposed TVSR-CRIN project (February 25, 2026). WACCO is accordingly a related party, and any WACCO commitments are disclosed as such in the data room. TerraVolt treats this alignment as a feature — an industry closure operator committing its own resources — and discloses it plainly.
